Congratulations to our students who competed at the PSSA District Swimming Carnival held last Friday afternoon in Narooma. Special mention to Darcy Hughes who was Senior Boy Champion and Malle Smith who was Sen Girl Runner Up. Harry Phillips, Michael Diacomohalis and the senior boys relay team will join both Mallee and Darcy in the District team to compete at the Regional Carnival.
Thanks also to Janelle Morgan and Julie Frost who were the carnival managers and who ran a very tight and professional carnival for the district schools.
Clean Up Australia Day
This Friday we will be helping our community by participating in Clean Up Australia Day.
The concept that we all have a duty and can help to look after our environment is an important concept and one that is not restricted to the playgrounds inside the school fence. We teach our children that we belong to a local environment/community as well as a global one and it is our responsibility to value and look after it.
This Friday we will distribute gloves and bags to our students who will be very busy covering the following areas.
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2: school playground
Years 3 & 4: local streets around the school
Years 5 & 6: Candalagan/Broulee Beach
Parents are very welcome to come help us - we will be starting at 11:40am
Cancer Council Relay for Life
Each year our school staff enter a team in the Cancer Council Relay for Life held in Batemans Bay. We will start our fund raising for this event next week, Wednesday 6 March by holding a "purple mufti day" with a gold coin donation. We are aware that many families are affected by cancer and this is one way we can recognise the enormous impact cancer can have as well as doing some valuable fund raising at the same time. There will more about this in next week's Scoop.
Many thanks to the families who have so promptly paid their school voluntary contributions (fees). We have had very positive feedback about the new trial system of direct deposit into the school bank account and would encourage those who have yet to make their payment to try this system.
Account No: 148193
Payment reference - please include eldest child's full name so we can correctly receipt payments.
Don't forget the earlybird draw, if you make your payment before the 28 February your name will be entered into the draw to win $100 worth of petrol.
