It is difficult to believe we are approaching the middle of the term already.
Well done to all those students who have settled into class routines – consistently completing homework, home learning, daily reading and research.
This week I would like to officially introduce you to our eight House Captains for 2018:
The beginning of March, “just around the corner,” means our school fete is fast approaching. It will be important to read the Scoop each week to ensure you have all the updates on the fete plans and activities and remember “many hands make light work” so volunteer your assistance whenever or wherever you can. A blue form has been sent home to return with confirmation of areas in which you would be able to assist. “Watch this space!”
Before School Supervision
We have had an unusually high number of students arriving too early to school each morning. Staff commence playground duty at 8:30 am and any student arriving prior to that time must remain seated, with his/her school bag, on the handball court or COLA until the 8.30 am bell rings. This is largely for safety purposes. We would discourage students arriving before 8:30 am when possible.
I would also like to take this moment to say, again, a huge THANK YOU to those Community Tutors who tirelessly give up their spare time to assist teachers within the classroom in a variety of ways. The teachers are ever grateful and the students gain so much. We have had some new community members also offer their help and we welcome them to our school community.
ICAS Competitions (formally University of NSW Competitions)
Entry forms for the ICAS Competitions are now available for interested students. An entry form is attached to this week’s Scoop or available from the Front Office.
Forms with correct payment are to be returned to your child’s class teacher (not the Front Office) by Friday 16 March.
School Crossing Safety
We acknowledge that car parking space is very limited around our school and that dropping your children off is at times challenging and difficult. Recently we have received several reports of members of our school community driving unsafely in and around our school crossing. Please take care to follow all road rules to ensure the continued safety of our students.
I would like to officially introduce you to our school leaders for 2018, - Jet Love, Jack Riley, Jade Padman & Skye Wildman. Although these students were elected and inducted last year they have only taken up their positions this year. Congratulations to these wonderful students, we look forward to seeing you and hearing from you as you lead our school throughout 2018.
