Jake Walker-Tutty, Alice Burgun-Boucher, Lucy Jones and Tane Simons will be representing our school at the Regional Premier's Spelling Bee on Wednesday 10 September. Good luck spelling champs
Last Monday I was accompanied by the School Captains Max Cooper, Erin White and Austin Reid to the Vietnam Veteran's Day Service. Originally 18 August was held to commemorate the Battle of Long Tan, but has more recently been adopted by all veterans. Although we had wet and very cold conditions, the captains represented our school with pride and dignity.
RED (Read Every Day) Day was celebrated yesterday and will be bigger and better on Thursday when we continue to celebrate Literacy and Numeracy week. This is a chance for at home to create some wonderful memories as you spend some quality time with your child. There are many board games, card games and even large outdoor games that reinforce the concepts of counting, direction and grouping sets together. Reading together also provides a great opportunity to spend time with your child, to be creative, expressive and read some wonderfully imaginative stories together, as well as gather facts about all sorts of things that interest your family and child. Dads and kids: save the date - 4 September We would love to see all of our "dads and kids" celebrate Fathers Day at a special breakfast at school. Some children may choose to bring their grandfather or uncle or a special person in their life - all will be welcome. Mr Rutter and Mr Hounsell have already volunteered to help Wade's dad and Hudson's dad cook, but we will be chasing some more volunteers to help out on the morning. Men get your aprons ready! Please see our P&C section of the Scoop for more details. Gifted Writers Four of our gifted writers attended the Mayor's Morning Tea last Friday morning. This special event saw both Sarah Burnes and Eva Barker receive awards for winning their sections of the Mayor's Writing Competition, while Stella Lloyd-Jones and Oliver Dolphin received Runners Up and Encouragement Awards. Congratulations to: Thomas Derwent and Damia O'Loughlin who both gained Credits in the recent ICAS Writing competition. Austin Reid who has gained selection in the Regional Athletics team and will compete at the State Carnival later in the year. Maturity has to do with the experiences you've had,
not how many birthdays you've celebrated. |
