It is with great pleasure that I would like to introduce our new School Captains for the year, Soma Faraday-Kogler, Erin White, Austin Reid and Max Cooper. Our leaders were nominated at the end of last year by their peers and school staff. The year will be one of opportunities and leadership development for them and I know that they will do a wonderful job. Congratulations!
Late last year we asked for Expressions of Interest in delivering ethics classes at our school. We had a great response and we are aiming to commence classes on Thursday 13 March for students whose parent's have registered them. A registration note will be sent home in the near future.
All classes are taught by vetted and trained volunteers.
Topics for Term 1 include:
Early Stage 1 - not available yet, we hope to introduce it later this year.
Stage 1 - Pride: Vice or Virtue?, Examples and Counter-examples and Are You The Same Person You Used To Be?
Stage 2 - Being Selfish, Staring, Excuses and Reasons and Disagreeing Respectfully
Stage 3 - A Fair Society, Human Rights and Do Other Animals Have Them?
While the Ethics course aligns closely to our school curriculum and to the philosophy of the school it is not compulsory for children to attend. Parents have the following choice:
Ethics classes or
Scripture classes or
Neither Scripture nor Ethics but to remain with a class teacher doing other activities.

Clean Up Australia Day
On Friday 28 February we will be helping our community by participating in Clean Up Australia Day.
The concept that we all have a duty and can help to look after our environment is an important concept and one that is not restricted to the playgrounds inside the school fence. We teach our children that we belong to a local environment/community as well as a global one and it is our responsibility to value and look after it.
Students are asked to bring in gloves and bags and will be covering the following areas.
Kindergarten and Year 1: school playground
Years 2, 3 & 4: local streets around the school
Years 5 & 6: Candalagan/Broulee Beach
Parents are very welcome to come help us - we will be starting at 11:40am - 1:10pm
