As part of our work on Bullying, K-Yr6 have been continuing to look at what UPstanders are, and what they do. A huge congratulations to Kindergarten and their teachers. Mrs Dunn
from Kindergarten put her rhyming skills to work and composed a fantastic song, clearly outlining the role of an UPstander. Take a look at Kindergarten performing the song here
The students also performed their song at the assembly last week. Well done to our youngest performers.
Technology and Student Safety
We pride ourselves that we are a digital friendly school and that we use technology to support curriculum implementation in K-Yr6. We take our role seriously in how we use, model and supervise technology while students have their own devices at school and also when they are using the school’s devices. When students are within the school environment there are a number of sites that they cannot access due to the department’s firewall. At home there is no such firewall and unless you have “restrictions” enabled on devices students can access a huge range of sites, some of which may be completely inappropriate.
Every device that your child uses should have “restrictions” turned on. Please refer to the attached link on how to activate restrictions, parental controls
No child in primary school needs an Instagram account. I’m aware that there is huge pressure on parents from their children to allow them to have such an account but please remember you are the parent, please do not allow your child to take over your role. It’s not easy, but it is what you signed up for. If you have an older child who already has an Instagram account, please check it regularly! This includes looking back through the “history” of your child’s account so that you can see what your child is doing, saying and who they are following and who is following them. I’m sure some of you will be surprised by what you find.
Repair of Playground
The playground equipment has been repaired and is back to full use. “The Playground People” who completed the repair have signed off that it is structurally sound. Repair costs were covered through insurance.
Thanks to the P&C for organising our major raffle this year. The raffle will be drawn on Thursday 27 July at the school. This is a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for the school and to win some amazing prizes. A book of raffle tickets will be sent home with the eldest child in the family this
Wednesday, 21 June. Thanks to the parents and caregivers for supporting this fundraiser. Good luck!
