We are well on the way with our planning and organisation for next year. If you would like to discuss class placement for your child in 2018 please contact either the class teacher or myself as soon as possible.
We have very limited vacancies throughout the school so if you are aware of any children leaving or arriving please advise the front office.
Although I will be here for Term 1 next year, it is with mixed feelings that I would like to announce that I have accepted a Director, School Leadership position effective from the end of April. My time here as a Principal has been rich and rewarding and I have had the pleasure of leading a wonderfully professional team that have embedded a culture of inquiry, engagement and learning within both our student body and our educational community. The Principal's position should be filled through the merit selection process during Term 1, 2018 and this will ensure a smooth transition for both new principal as well as the leadership team.
Online Student Reports
As previously flagged, we are exploring the option of sending out student reports electronically. At this stage, our systems are not ready for this transition and further consultation will take place in 2018. A paper copy of Term 4 student reports will be sent home with your child.
Could parents please remind their children to stay on the school grounds in the afternoon until a Teacher is at the various departure areas. This includes students leaving from the back gate, the bike racks and via the front gate.
Kindergarten transition to School
Today we held our second 2018 Kindergarten transition session. It's so exciting to watch these small people start their journey along the education road. The session was filled with exciting indoor and outdoor activities, spending time with their buddies and exploring their new learning environment.
2018 School Captain Nominee Speeches
Our 2018 School Captain nominees speeches were held yesterday in the hall. We are very proud of each and every student who confidently delivered their speech. They did a wonderful job and every student could hold their head high performing in the role. We look forward to announcing our 2018 School Captains on presentation day.
World Kindness day
Yesterday we celebrated World Kindness Day. This is a significant day as it was the opening day of the first World Kindness Movement® conference held at Tokyo in 1998, and the 35th anniversary of the Small Kindness Movement of Japan, which brought the signatories of the ‘declaration of kindness’ of the World Kindness Movement together in 1997. The purpose of World Kindness Day is to look beyond ourselves, beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion; and realise we are citizens of the world.
You may have noticed walking around the school, there were some very special messages of kindness written in chalk. The children were very engaged in reading the messages and sharing their stories with each other about what kindness means to them. Kindergarten spent a lovely session making a kindness chain, involving each student writing a sentence about an act of kindness
