It was wonderful to meet several of the parents who were able to attend the assembly on Thursday. I was very impressed by the respect shown by our students throughout the assembly and the number of children receiving their Bronze awards. It is great to see them being recognised for their efforts.
Well done to our netballers who yesterday gave their all in a very close match with Sunshine Bay PS. Coming into the last few minutes of the final quarter it was all level before Sunshine Bay was able to score two quick goals to edge our team out. It was a great effort by our girls who had come from behind in the last quarter to level the scores.
Congratulations to Hayden Nye who was selected in the South Coast PSSA Under 11 Rugby League team last week. Hayden will now go to play in the NSW PSSA state carnival at Kingscliff. Well done Hayden!
Tomorrow our Kinder, Years 1 and 2 will be participating in an AFL fun session. It will be a great time for the children with loads of activities for them to learn and practise the skills in AFL.
We are looking forward to having plenty of mothers, grandmothers and guardians come and join us in celebrating on Friday at our Mothers’ Day Breakfast. It is looking like a great day with plenty of delicious food organised to kick off a great weekend for mums.
Next week we will start the annual NAPLAN exams for Years 3 and 5. Starting Tuesday 15 May and ending Thursday 17 May, NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy.
It is important to remember that NAPLAN is not about passing or failing, but about assessing learning progress.
It would be appreciated if students participating in NAPLAN are at school on time these days.
